One of the largest consumers in an office or school is the lighting. Through the use of Access Keycards and 'Presence Detectors', energy costs can be reduced by only activating lighting once there is someone in the room. This stops the accidental burning of lights through the night.
Another large energy consumer is Air-Conditioning. These same, 'Presence Detectors', can be linked to the Air-Conditioning, further reducing overall running costs.
In addition to keycards and presence detection, 'Constant Light Sensors' can be used to further reduce energy consumption. Based on the amount of light present in a room, a 'Constant Light Sensor' automatically adjusts the lighting and louvers of blinds in order to maintain a comfortable lighting level so that costs can be minimized.
